The Dillard Doctrine

Urban Conservative Commentary on Politics & Life

Where to Begin?

Now that the air’s beginning to clear, I’ve got a couple ideas of where to start cleaning out conservatism; namely, who should go and who should stay. So, in no particular order:

  1. Rush Limbaugh-GO. Limbaugh’s brand of “fear the conservative!!” really means “fear me and the far right conservative!!” No longer a viable option. We can’t be a party of extremism any more, and Rush comes down on the wrong side of that line.
  2. Michelle Malkin/Laura Ingraham-GO. For the same reasons as Limbaugh. Don’t get me wrong, we need good, strong conservative women-and not just white ones, either-but having those who shrill just because they are women and think that, by that default, no one will attack them-are not helpful.
  3. The Christian Right-STAY, with the caveat that they stop trying to condemn people to hell. You can’t legislate morality; people are gonna do what they want whether it’s illegal or not. And I know what the Old Testament says regarding abortion and homosexuality, but doesn’t the New Testament say that all have sinned?
  4. Michael Steele-STAY. An outstanding example of what a black conservative should be. You won’t see him begging the party stalwarts for a damn thing.

Anyone care to add on?
