The Dillard Doctrine

Urban Conservative Commentary on Politics & Life

Are You Serious?

From The Politico (with my emphasis on the relevant part):

He talks a little about immigration. He is a moderate on immigration, which is to say he is out of step with most of his party. He says the Republican hard line on immigration hurt the party with Hispanics.

Barack Obama won about two-thirds of the Hispanic vote this year, up from the 53 percent that John Kerry won in 2004.

And the Republicans are very, very worried about the Hispanic vote. They see the African-American vote as largely gone, but the Hispanic vote was a possibility in future elections.

Now, this would qualify for an “If You Don’t Have Something Smart to Say…” post, except the Republican senator who made these statements isn’t identified. So…

Warning: bad words follow.

What’s with this shit about conceding the black vote? Are Republicans so scared of having to face their years of neglect of black communities that it’s easier to just write off an entire segment of the American electorate?

No, it won’t be easy. But, damn it, try. Because what the hell are you-we-if we don’t?

Hard is not hopeless, people. Do the damn work to win African Americans back. If we fail, so be it. At least then we can say we made a good faith effort, instead of turning tail and running.

What the fuck happened to “stand and fight,” John?
