Yet ANOTHER Post Dealing With Race

(actually, this will be several small posts)

1. It’s beyond uncool to get stopped in a hospital parking lot by the police while a family member is inside dying. Seems like the Dallas Police Department is doing the right thing about that sorry incident. However, it’s also beyond uncool to celebrate the person who killed four police officers in Oakland with a parade. Not only that, it’s completely disrespectful. There’s a special place in hell for people who participate in things like that.

2. Why is it that everyone who has a cause tries to equate their efforts to the Civil Rights Movement or slavery? Very few things in this world compare to either of those (only thing I can come up with is the women’s suffrage movement, or the federal government’s dealings with the Indians).

There are no parallels between global warming activists and civil rights activists. None. When they start getting sprayed with hoses, attacked by dogs, or beaten in the streets, give me a call and we’ll discuss.

Nor is there a parallel between slavery and abortion. Not to sound flippant, but if you’re not alive, it’s not really possible to experience the pain that was slavery.

If that’s all you’ve got to promote your cause, maybe you should reconsider whether it’s worth supporting.

3. And finally, there’s this from the president of Brazil (via the Financial Times):

“Brazil’s President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on Thursday blamed the global economic crisis on “white people with blue eyes” and said it was wrong that black and indigenous people should pay for white people’s mistakes.”

Mr. Silva, google “Consolidated Bank” and let me know what you come up with.

Let’s get this straight: EVERYONE had a hand in this financial crisis. Black, white, Republican, Democrat.

To imply anything else is, well, stupid.

HB2DF,
