Mission Accomplished…Almost

After almost a year of not sleeping well, getting kicked in the stomach/back, waking up in the middle of the night, and being afraid of crushing her, we’d finally had enough.

So we threw the little one out of the bed, and into her (still) shiny, new crib, which was more of a playpen than a place to sleep. Her first night sleeping alone was Friday…and she wasn’t happy about it. I put her in around 8, and she finally got the point and stopped screaming around 10. It’s the hardest thing in the world listening to your child cry, and knowing there nothing you can (maybe should is more accurate in this case) do about it. She did wake up once during the night; the mrs. gave her a bottle, laid her back down, and both went right back to sleep.

Saturday went a little better-she took two naps in the crib, and only screamed for about five minutes at bedtime. Thankfully, she didn’t wake up during the night.

Sunday…complete failure. She took a nap in the bed with me in the early afternoon, which set the stage for an hour of crying at bedtime, and an additional three hours of crying early Monday morning before she finally fell back asleep. She’d sit up, I’d put her back down, get back in the bed…and repeat the process again.

Last night wasn’t too bad. The usual hour of screaming (I’ve learned to read my TV shows instead of listening to them), and only two wakeups, neither of which were for very long.

We’ll see how the rest of the week goes…
